Crocheted Handle

I crocheted a small purse, about 5 x 6 and flat, just to hold a tissue, mints, glasses and pen (for meetings and to prevent everything falling all over the place as the items do a balancing act on top of my laptop!). I want to put a small handle on it, just enough to go over my wrist. How do I make a strap/handle for it?

Crochet a belt width and as long as you feel would work and whip stitch or single crochet to the sides by the opening.
