Blocking Guestion

Recommended Posts

Ok I am making a granyy square afghan. I'm blocking all of the squares and everything is looking good. My guestion is this. What happens once you wash an already blocked item? Do you have block every thime you wash an item ie..afghans, sweaters, ect..

I've never had to re-block anything I've blocked prior to washing. Of course, I haven't technically "blocked" much... I usually "kill" my stuff by just downright pressing them with an iron (sometimes using a pressing cloth). :lol My afghans I've made using that method are all still the same size and haven't needed blocking again.

You generally really don't need to "block" granny squares...

Are you using bedspread thread to make your granny squares?

The only thing to particularly be careful about is not mixing yarns.

In other words, if you use acrylic, stay with acrylic,

if you use wool, stay with wool, even in the blends,

especially if you are doing sweaters (which of course, never put in a dryer).
