I need some help with resizing

I would love to make a sweater "Baby It's Cold Outside" for my daughter, but sizes are for 6 and 12 months....and I need it a size or two bigger...and I do not know how sizing works..

Can anyone help me or give me some tips how to add stitches and how many I need to add?
