Question about fabric stiffener

I made one of Annie's Attic's free patterns, a little crocheted jewelry box. Turned out really cute. I still have to stiffen and shape it, and the instructions say to use "fabric stiffener". I see that Joann has some made by Aleen's....has anyone used this stuff and is it pretty good? I am planning a trip to pick some stuff up there, and should I get that?

I used when I made doilies. It works really good :-)

I made angels once that required stiffening, and I just used a corn starch mixture. I can't remember where I found the "recipe" but I'm sure if you googled it you could find lots!! I'm working on the book "99 Snowflakes to Crochet" (or something like that) and I plan on doing the same thing, but mixing in clear glitter so that they sparkle.
