Peppermint Stick/Candy Cane

I usually make these as candy canes, but the piece of red yarn I had happened to be small The pattern, such as it is, dates back to the 1800s. Chain any number you like. Turn. 3sc in every ch, fasten off. The piece will naturally go into a spiral. Make one in red, one of equal length in white, and hold them side by side so they spiral around each other. Run a pipe cleaner through the center (bend back the ends so they won't scratch.)
