lining your piece

What is the best way to line your piece. I made a tool pouch the other day, and being lazy and experimentive ( i know not a word.... yet. lol) i used a sewing machine to sew the fabric to the pouch with not so good results.. of course doesn't help that A) i'm not the best sewer, B) the machine would only sew backwards.

LOL! there's got to be a button to push, lever to move, or dial to turn that will get it to sew forward! But in the meantime, until you figure it out, you could cut your lining fabric out about 1/2" larger all around, iron under the edges, and then pin well and hand sew to your pouch.
