Look a bit closer! You can see that, instead of missing a couple of stitches, the stitch has gone into the same one. The double threads so typical of a Solomons Knot are there.

OK!!! Went and got some thread and had a go!

Row 1--1 S.C. in 2nd Ch from hook, (pretty self-explanatory!) *draw up a 1/2 inch loop, (pull up a loop half an inch high with the stitch already on the hook) Y.O. (yarn over hook) and draw up a 1/2 inch loop in same Ch., (insert hook in same stitch and pull up a half inch high loop; you will have three loops on your hook) Y.O. hook and through the 3 loops, (yarn over hook and draw through all three loops) skip 1 Ch, (skip one chain) 1 S.C. in next Ch, (1 sc in next chain) repeat from * across row, Ch 2, turn (Repeat from *until you get to the other side and then chain 2 and turn).

The second row is basically the foundation row repeated, using the sc from the foundation row instead of the chains.

Hope that's not as clear as mud!!!!
