Dying thread

Recommended Posts

I am crocheting a bride doll for my future Daughter-in-law and I am making the dress to match her wedding gown. I have run into a problem, her dress is ivory and I can't find ivory crochet thread anywhere. Is there anyway that I could dye the thread to look ivory or pearl in color, if so what should I use. Please help.

Thanks,

Bonnie

Lots of folks use tea or coffee to stain fabric and fibers to make them look antiqued. It's temporary, so won't work for garments that need to be laundered. It may work well for your doll dress. You'll need to experiment with tea strength and length of time it soaks.

If you are looking for a permanent color, you'll need to use fiber reactive dyes with cotton thread. Best wishes, and let us see how it works out for you! ;)
