This is for you, funkyreporter!

I stumbled across funkyreporter's thread about ugly yarn a while ago and enjoyed it. If you haven't read it you should. But wait until you have hours or even days of free time.

So then I found this description of recycled silk yarn on my gmail. In light of funkyreporter's experience it took on a whole new meaning. :lolhttp://www.recycledsilk.com/patterns.html

They "guarantee you'll have fun with (the yarn)."

And I loved this analogy:

"If you compare yarns to vacations; then most yarns are a family road-trip or perhaps a luxury cruise. Handspun sari yarns are like a trek on foot through small villages, visiting the real lives of people along the way. Each skein is an adventure and you can expect to find little bits of Nepal in them."

"Part of the charm of recycled silk is that it is unpredictable, making knitting with it just as rewarding as your finished product."

I've treked "on foot through small villages, visiting the real lives of people along the way" and it's a great way to get to know a culture and gather a few parasites along the way. So, for my vacation (and yarn), I'd much rather have a luxury cruise. :yes
