4 posts in this topic

I want to make something that is 3D and I want to make it stay 3D without stuffing it.

Aleene's Fabric Stiffener should do it, I use it for doilies and similar things.

You'll also need a mold of some sort so the piece keeps its shape while drying. For a 3-D diamond like in your picture, you'd probably have to make it in 2 pieces, soak it in your stiffener (Aileen's Stiffy is great stuff; you can also use white glue thinned with water, though it tends to yellow as time goes on. You can make a paste out of water and cornstarch, or sugar & water, but both of those can wilt if they get wet and the sugar water stiffener can attract flies during humid days), put each piece over the mold, dry, then stick the pieces together.
