Help with a pattern instruction

Hi,

 

In most of the instructions i notice near the beginning it says:

 

6 sc into second ch from hook

 

after i make a foundation ring...

 

does that mean i make 6 stitches (stacking consecutively) on the hole directly on the left side of the crochet needle with the hook? or does it mean i skip the chain next to the hook and work on the one next to it... (wow sounds confusing heehee

 

maybe i can draw it...
