Shawls, wraps, capelets and purses on QVC

As far as the question of ponchos, wraps and capelets going out of style - I don't think so. I was browsing :shopQVC and quite a few of their fashion items are exactly the things I've seen people make and show here - lots of crochets cover-ups of one type or another, purses and other goodies. So rev those hooks and get crocheting.
