Here are the directions for making a straight row. I'd recommend trying a small swatch of this to get how the flowers are done before you do the shawl:

Make a starting chain that is divisible by 6 and then ch 1 more.

Row 1: sc across, turn

Row 2: ch 5(this counts as first trc and ch1), skip first stitch, trc in next stitch, *ch 1, skip next stitch, trc in next ch. Repeat from * across, ending with a trc in last stitch. This is your first row of lattice. Turn.

Row 3: ch 5, trc in 2nd trc of previous row (your ch5 is above the first trc of previous row, the trc goes into the next trc of previous row. You will have made a square=one lattice stitch). ##Start first flower: ch 3, *yo twice, insert hook in 3rd chain from hook, yo and pull hook through,

(yo and pull through 2 loops) 2x. You now have 2 loops on hook. Repeat from * once. You now have 3 loops on hook. ^Yo twice, insert hook in next trc of previous row, yo and pull hook through, (yo and pull through 2 loops) 2x.^^ You now have 4 loops on hook. Repeat from ^ twice, ending up with 6 loops on hook. Skip next trc of previous row. Repeat from ^ to ^^. You should now have 9 loops on your hook. Yo and pull through all 9 loops. Ch 1 to close. Sc in ch 1 just made. Ch3, {yo twice, insert hook in sc just made, yo and pull through. (Yo and pull through 2 loops) 2x} twice. Yo and pull through all 3 loops on hook. You now have four petals of the flower. Trc in next trc of previous row. Ch 1 and trc in next trc of previous row (one lattice squre made). Repeat from ## across to end. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 5 and trc in second trc of previous row, like you did at the beginning of row 3 to make a lattice stitch. ^Continue making lattice squares until you get to a flower petal. (You should have made a trc of a lattic square at the tip of the flower petal.) Then ch3, *yo twice, insert hook in the middle of the flower, yo and pull through, (yo and pull through 2 loops) 2x. Repeat from * twice. Yo and pull through all 4 loops on hook. Ch 3. Trc in trc of previous row~found at tip of flower petal. Repeat from ^.

For the shawl:

If you've ever tried the Newlywed Shawl, this is basically the same concept.

Row 1: ch 6. Trc in 6th ch from hook. You have made 1 lattice square. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 5 & trc in same space as turning chain. Ch 1, skip 1ch of previous row, trc in next ch. Ch 1 and trc in same space as last trc. You should now have 3 lattice stitches. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 5 & trc in same space as turning chain. Start first flower: ch 3, *yo twice, insert hook in 3rd chain from hook, yo and pull hook through, (yo and pull through 2 loops) 2x. You now have 2 loops on hook. Repeat from *. Ch 1 and trc in same stitch as trc just made. Turn.

Row 4: Ch5 & trc in same space as turning chain. Ch1, trc in next trc of previous row (this is at the tip of the flower petal, and you should have two lattices). Ch 3. *Yo twice, insert hook in the middle of the flower, yo and pull through, (yo and pull through 2 loops) 2x. Repeat from * twice. Yo and pull through all 4 loops on hook. Ch 3. Trc in trc of previous row~found at tip of flower petal. Ch 1 and trc in last trc of previous row. Ch 1 and trc in same space as last trc.

By now you've probably figured out how to do the flowers and lattice stitches and should be able to continue on with the shawl. If not, let me know and I'll continue on for a few more rows. This took longer than I thought it would and Medium is about to start, so I'm out of time for tonight. Good luck. You can do it!:cheer
