Crochet pattern or tutorial for envelope neck?

I'm wondering if you have any advice about how to crochet an envelope neckline, like the one on this sweater. Is there a way to crochet this? It's supposed to make it easier to get the clothing over someone's head, especially for a small child, and with onesies it can also help to pull the entire onesie down to get it off if they've had a diaper blowout.

i think you can pretty easily adapt a tee shirt type pattern to his style.  Use a pattern that has pieces that are seamed.    At the shoulder line, just make extensions and overlap them instead of seaming.
