Shaping Crochet Thread Dolls

Good afternoon. I have created a small figurine of an angel from thread. I would like to get it to stand up and was thinking of using a foam egg to help shape then use heavy duty starch to stiffen; however, I am worried the work will stick to the foam. Are there any other ways to do this? Thank you for any thoughts and suggestions.

If you use the egg, cover it with plastic wrap.  It will then keep from sticking to the egg.  I use the Styrofoam cones.
