Crochet square isn't even

Mcmishmash

Question

Hi!

I'm trying to make a square that's made up of two different colors but no matter what I do, the sides are not the same....it looks like a stretched diamond ????

I've tried changing my tension, the hook, I triple count my stitches, I've checked the pattern countless times but it keeps happening! Help!

Looks like the one, correct? I would bet the problem is that your stitches are too tall. It could be that your stitch gauge does not match the pattern's gauge. Or it could be that the pattern is in UK/Australian terms, where a triple crochet is what we in the US call a double crochet....if the pattern says UK triple crochet stitches but you did US triples, those would be too tall.

If you can post a photo of your square, that would help with more specific suggestions.
