Need help with chart

I've been staring at the same part of the pattern now for 4 days. I have to join these two pieces together to form the side seem of the tunic, but I don't understand the chart, or where on the chart to even begin. 

 

There are 5 large motifs in each section (front piece, back piece) , and you attach them as you go. Then you join the 2 groups of 5 and the side becomes the side of the tunic. This is where I got lost.

since you've already made the motifs and can't do the join as you go here, I think you would have to sew them at these seam areas.  

 

this being a paid pattern which cost $11 I would hope/expect the seller to be offering assistance with questions, so you could contact her.

Thank you Kathy.  Yes the lady that wrote the pattern has been very helpful, but she is away for July and I need to have it ready by August 5th... yikes!

 

I followed the written pattern to create the 2 sets of 5 motifs, but then it says to use the chart to create the side seam.  I'm not sure how to do the little lime green dc's at the bottom to the right of the black stitches.  Where do I anchor them?
