I have tried alot to find out how to do charts but can't seem to understand it at all. Is there someone that can help me?

the square starts with a version of an Irish crochet rose, this site http://bitsandbobstheblog.blogspot.com/2008/04/bits-and-bobs-crochet-tutorial-index.html has a good tutorial on the rose technique, listed under projects, in several parts.  

 

there are reference books that will help you learn to understand and use the symbols.  for example, Robyn Chachula's books, Margaret Hubert's Complete Photo Guide to Crochet, Edie Eckman's books.  Look for these at your public library.
