Help with pattern for valence

Hello, if this goes well, I need help understanding a pattern for a valance that I am trying to crochet.

 

The pattern reads as follows: *ch4, skip next (2dc, sc, 2dc), sc in the next dc, ch 3, skip next dc, dc in the next dc*. I am having problems with the section that I have underlined. It is from a pattern on Priscilla's Crochet.

when you see parentheses in a pattern, it means that what is inside the parentheses is treated as one operation.  so in this case it means that you skip the 2dc, the sc, and the next 2 dc.    then you continue by doing a sc in the following dc, etc.

Thank you so much, I thought that was the case. However that means I messed up the last row because the next stitch that I would logically skip is a single crochet, not a double. Thank you for your help.
