Help with Triad Shawl

I need help with a pattern from Caron, it is called the "Triad Shawl."

The part I am having trouble with is Row #2, the last part. "tr in same ch as last tr of previous row

 

This begins with 20 tr in 4th ch from hook, but I do not join , correct?

 

So is this connected by trebling in that last ch4 from Row 1?

To me , this pattern needs a clear photo of the stitch pattern or preferably a *diagram*.

The beginning is not 20 sts in fourth ch from hook. It is (ch four, tr in fourth ch from hook) repeated over and over. This makes a series of loops.

The end of row two is to tr down into the chain that you based the last tr of first row in, i think.  eta:  actually that will be the first tr you made in the first row; it will be the last one you come to when working back across.

wanted to be sure my mental image was right so I made a small swatch.  I just made 3 of the ch4-tr loops, but you can see the structure
