Little Bits of Christmas

The scrap yarn made me think of ornaments. I'll start, but everybody throw in your favorite original little bit of decoration that only takes a few yards:

This is an ornament I made for a swap. I want to make more, but need to dig for my little scraps of green yarn so it won't be so monochromatic:

Holly Wreath

Scraps of green yarn, any kind, and hook to suit; allow 5-6 feet of worsted for each leaf

Handful of red pony beads, buttons or red yarn

Ring from neck of milk jug or soda bottle

Bow or red yarn to chain and tie a bow with

First leaf:

Attach yarn to ring and ch 3. # dc in ring, ch 1, 4 dc in ring, turn.

Rows 2 and 3:

Sl st across 4 dc, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 1, dc) in ch-1 sp, dc in next dc, turn.

Sl st across 3 dc, ch 3, (dc, ch 3, sl st in first ch, dc) all in ch-1 sp, dc, fasten off.

Second, third and fourth leaves:

Using other shades of green, repeat first leaf so you have four leaves in the ring.

Fifth and subsequent leaves:

Leaving a few inches of tail for sewing,

Ch 4, 3 dc in first ch, ch 1, 4 dc in first ch.

Turn. Follow Rows 2-3 of First Leaf.

Using the tail at the beginning, sew fifth and subsequent leaves to the ring and to the other leaves as you like. Tack on pony beads or buttons as "berries," or make a few popcorn stitches and tack them on instead. You can also thread red yarn into a yarn needle, tie knots where you want berries and trim the yarn close to the knots.
