felting without a washing machine?

hey there...

is it possible to felt using a pan on an oven hob? my washing machine has autolock so i cant open it while in cycle.

I don't know what size piece you are looking to felt, but you need enough water to move it around vigorously.

 

The water needs to be hot, but not boiling so it doesn't need to be on the heat while you are felting. I've had good results by putting two large buckets in the bathtub. Fill one up with hot hot hot water, and one with cold. Use a new, clean! toilet plunger to do the agitating and just go from one bucket back to the other. Being in the bathtub keeps the water from splashing all over the place.
