Playful puppy blanket

Question

I am currently working on the above pattern from the huggable baby red heart pattern book. The instructions for the head have thrown me.  It states:

Head

Ch 2

Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook-6sc

Round 2: [2 sc in same st] around-12sc-I am assuming you 2 sc in each stitch around correct?

Round 3-10: [2sc in same st] 6 times evenly spaced around-60 sc-this where I get lost...what the heck does this mean?

Help

Not a very clear way to write a pattern.  Round 3- (2 sc in same st), sc in next stitch, around. (18 sc)  Round 4:  (2 sc in next stitch), sc in each of next 2 sc, around.  (24 sc) Round 5:  (2 sc in same st) sc in each of next 3 sc around (30 sc) and so on .  On each round you will , do 1 more sc, between every increase; increasing 6 stitches on each round.  Hope I made this clear enough.

Thank you very much.  I am pretty good at reading patterns because I have crocheted for so long but this really threw me for a loop.  What really gets me is it written that way in a Red Heart pattern book that I bought.
