Help with a pattern

shamirhila

Question

Hi everyone!

General information about the project - it's a turtle and I'm having some trouble understanding the instructions for the curve of the neck.

The instructions goes like this:

Curve Of Neck

Row 15: Ch 1, sc in next 16 sts; leave last 2 sts unworked, turn.

Rows 16–22: Ch 1, sc in each st across to last 2 sts; leave last 2 sts unworked, turn—At end of last row, 2 sts.

Round 23: Ch 1, working in unworked sts of previous rows and round 14, sc in each st around; join with slip st in first sc. Leaving a long tail for sewing, fasten off.

What I don't understand is rows 16-22, they confused me with the 2 sts.

I would love some help!

Thank you very much,

And have a nice day :)

But does is it means that on rows 16-22 I skip the last 2 sc? And than how does it connect to row 23?

From 16-22, yes, every row will have two less stitches.  So you will be seeing a pyramid shape forming.  When you reach 23, notice that instead of "row," it says "round."  A round tells you it's going to connect at the end of the round.  What you do in 23 is that you will now be stitching into all the stitches you skipped, essentially going down the sides of the previous rows plus stitching into whatever unused stitches you had in "round" 14.

Is it a free pattern?  If it is, could you provide a link or give the name and where to find it?  There's something I'd like to check to help you out better.

Edit:  Never mind.  I found the pattern.  I will be able to look more closely at it tonight.  I think someone on the 'ville just made one for the amigurumi swap.  You should check the swap posts to see whom it is and send them a message if you need help sooner than that.

It was a quick thing; so I had time to finish it.  As I mentioned, it will kind of look like a pyramid when you finish.  To start Round 23, you chain 1, turn, and sc on top of the two st's of Row 22 and then start going down diagonally to stitch into the skipped sc's.  Try to keep your loops even.  You will have a tendency to stretch them when jumping from the last sc on a row to the first sc down two rows.  You're going to be gathering the edges.  You will end by slip stitching into the very first sc that started this last round.  Here are pictures:

So there you have it.  Sorry for the yarn color.  It was the closest to me at the time :)
