Mandarin top help please

I'm working on my very first sweater. The mandarin top by Tatyana Mirer. I' m working on size extra large and am on row 5 of the yoke. It says to skip something 2 rows down...will I be working on that row the whole length. Thanks for helping

I purchased a download from Annie's attic....I keep looking at the pattern and I think maybe only certain stitches go to the rows below....

Can you tell us where you are at in relation to what we can see in the photo?

 

 Are you making the openwork squares?  that kind of thing is often done by chaining on a few rows and then chaining to the middle of the gap and catching the previous chains with a stitch or a few sts that go below the chains.    if so this tutorial might help, not exactly the same but i think it is probably similar http://crochet.about.com/library/weekly/aa021206.htm
