I decided to try a basket. I saw several post about these and thought "why not?"

www.craftyarncouncil.com/projects/basket.html

I am totally confused by the directions. Do I need 6 skeins of each color that I intend to use? And what is "work even"?

:think

I love these baskets. They work up quickly. Although sometimes I find I am not reading closely so I get baskets in all sizes!

Yes, you are supposed to use six strands of each color (which could mean 6 skeins). To cut down on the number of skeins you need to buy, you could try using/pulling from the two loose ends of a skein.

Work even means don't increase or decease (I think).

Hope this helps!

You need just under 17 ounces for a basket. Remember, those requirements are for 5 baskets. And they are telling you that for 5 baskets you need 10 and a half oz. or 3 skeins that are 3.5 oz. total for one basket. How you color it is up to you and you do use 6 strands together.

And jtc is correct: work even means no increases or decreases.
