Teaching Crocheting

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I am a teacher at a middle school, and I have recently started working at the school's after-school program for at-risk students. I have somehow managed to get a group of teenagers interested in learning to crochet, so I am very excited about that! The problem is, the first class did not go all that well. The kids had a hard time with it and started to get very frustrated. I was only trying to teach them to get a slip knot on the hook and make a chain. By the end of the class, a few of them seemed to be getting it, but I would love some tips on how to make it easier for them. Does anyone out there have any pointers for me? I would love to get the class to the point where they can make some squares that we can join into an afghan to donate.

Thanks!

~Randi
