Too narrow finished blanket

Oma Carolyn

Question

I finished my first crochet project which was supposed to be a baby blanket. It is too narrow and longer than it’s supposed to be.  I’ve since made several successful baby blankets. How can I add on to the finished blanket to make it wider? It needs to be at least 4 inches wider. I’ll use it as a throw instead. I used a dappled Bernat yarn so it changes colors throughout. The pattern is a simple double crochet.

Is it too narrow to compensate with a good sized border?

You could always hook onto one long side like you were working a border and do a few sideways rows, then do the same with the the other long side.  Put a border around the whole thing, and you still have a symmetrical piece.  Yes, it would definitely be a different look, but it just might work.

Good luck, let us know how it comes out 😊🧡
