Question
Marsha Beard
I am new to crochet but have mastered all of the stitches as long as I am working flat.
The first pattern I am working on is a hat, so it is working in the round.
The first line of the pattern is:
Round 1: Ch2, 9sc in 2 ch from hook sl st to join (10)
I understand this to mean: Make 2 chain stitches, then do 9 single crochets in the 2nd chain stitch from the hook Then, use a slip stitch to join. There will then be a total of 10 stitches. (Is that correct?)
What I can not figure out is how to single crochet 9 stitches, if I only have a chain of 2? I have only done squares, so in that case you sc then same number of chains you have.
How do I sc 9 stitches into a 2 stitch chain?
Thank you.
