MATERIALS:

J Hook

2 oz Red Heart Super Saver ww yarn

 

GAUGE– 7 sts = 2"

ABBREVIATIONS:

 

sc - single crochet

hdc - half double crochet

ch - chain

st - stitch

sts - stitches

sl st - slip stitch

sk - skip

 

Note 1: numbers in ( ) at end of round is not instruction you to do anything, it is stating the number of stitches for the round.

 

Note 2: ch-# - ch followed by a dash followed by a number (ch-3) referrs to the space made by the chains and skipped stitches of the previous round.

ROUND 1: ch 3, 11 hdc in first ch. Join in first real hdc. (12 hdc)

ROUND 2: ch 2, 2 hdc in same st as join, *2 hdc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with 1 hdc in same place as beginning ch2 , join in first hdc. (24 hdc)

TIP: Always skip over the beginning ch 2 and join rounds in first real stitch. When counting stitches for the round, you will count the ch 2 as a stitch.

ROUND 3: ch 2, 2 hdc in same st as join, 1 hdc in next st, *2 hdc in next st, 1 hdc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with 2 hdc in next st. Join in first hdc. (36 hdc)

ROUND 4: ch 2, 2 hdc in same st as join, *1 hdc in next 2 sts, 2 hdc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with 1 hdc in last st. Join in first hdc. (48 hdc)

ROUND 5: ch 2, 2 hdc in same st as join, *1 hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with 1 hdc in next 2 sts. Join in first hdc. (60 hdc)

ROUND 6: ch 2, 2 hdc in same st as join, *1 hdc in next 4 sts, 2 hdc in next st. Repeat from * around. End with 1 hdc in next 3 sts. Join in first hdc.(72 hdc)

Piece measures approximately 7" from edge to edge at end of round 6.
