Double Thick Diagonally Crocheted Potholder

I have had this pattern forever and finally just today decided to give it a try and I am glad I did b/c I love the pattern and will be making a lot more. This one I just used some left over Red Heart acrylic yarn just to test the pattern so I will be choosing different colors for the others.

This is the front and back, pretty much looks the same in the pictures but looks a little different in person. I used a size "H" hook and for some reason mine didn't turn out perfectly square but rather 5" x 5.5"

I like it, especially that you do it in one piece, even though you have to sew the diagonal at the end. Maybe I can slip stitch it together or find another way (can you tell I hate the sewing part of it, which reminds me...I really need to sew a button on my pants tonight...the pants I'm wearing!).

I love this pattern too. I do slip stitch together after I do the ch 12 loop. I have an aversion to sewing them together too My pattern came from a different site, http://myboringblog.wordpress.com/2008/01/23/crochet-potholder-pattern/ but it's the same.
