q about size 3 thread

i couldn't find the color i wanted in sports weight but i have it in size 3 crochet thread. could i double it up to make sports weight?

The thickness feels the same to me. If you are doing clothing, do a guage swatch, you may need to go up or down a size in hooks to get the exact gauge.

I am working on a pattern that calls for size 3 thread, but I am using a #3 baby yarn.

yes i think i need to go to a size f hook and not a g hook. I'm just not good a gauging. but this is just for spaghetti sleeves anyway so it shouldn't matter that much.
