Baby Blanket Poem

Recommended Posts

I just finished a Double Diamond Baby Blanket for shower that I'm going to tomorrow. It's been washed and dried and is all wrapped up and ready to go. I'm just looking for a little poem to put in the card to explain something about it being homemade and that it's been made washable for frequent use (I used I Love this Yarn, a very very soft acrylic). Something like that. I've tried Google, and I've searched through this site some. I was hoping one of you might have a link, or be creative enough to come up with one. The other thing about the blanket is that I don't really know the mom or dad very well at all. The dad is my Aunt's stepson and he was already almost an adult when she married his father. I'm mainly going for my aunt, who loves anything I make.

Thanks so much!

A babe is a diamond in the rough,

waiting just to shine.

This home made blanket is warm and tough,

and stands the test of time.

Both should be loved, played with and washed

And soon you will see...

Why this soft "Double Diamond' was made for you,

with caring hands, from me...

Thanks you all, :blush but I really do enjoy doing it. Besides what is the sense of having a knack for doing something if you don't share it? :think

Any time any of you need a ditty, just give me a holler, I'd be tickled pink to help. :manyheart

I have a baby shower next weekend. May I use the poem to put with my blanket? I would have to change the Double Diamond line tho. Not sure what the name of the pattern I used is. :think

I have no problem with that, no copyright on it, :lol.

I don't think Kaylana will mind, as long as your not going to same shower, ;) , or if you prefer I can try and doodle out something else.

How would something like this be?

Winds may blow and chills may bite.

But baby is warm and snuggled tight.

A homemade blanket for an infant dear.

Keeping baby cozy from year to year.

Each stitch a kiss, each row a song.

saying "Welcome home, where you belong."

From my hands, to your heart

With you in mind, from the very start...

I just wanted to thank you again for the poem. The shower today went great, and the mom-to-be loved the blanket and the poem. I like the second poem you wrote too. You can bet that I'll be saving those for future gifts, if you don't mind of course!

Oh my goodness, I have tears in my eyes. You have all made my day. I have written for my high school reunion and church items, but mostly private notes to friends and family. The ville is the first time I have gone really public, and feel really blessed that folks like you appreciate my efforts. Thank you all...
