Toothbrush Rug

So here is my toothbrush rag rug its also called Naalbinding, Nalbinde, its a Scandinavian weaving actually there are several names for it Amish braid, Bohemian braid Swedish braid, beggars braid. They are all the same thing a flat weaving that uses a leader thread that you weave over. I wanted to learn to do this cause i can't crochet with rags any more, arthritis makes it hurt too much. I thought this is what my grandmother used to do but come to find out she did a different method that i am now learning. This is about 36 inches by 27 inches and i am all most done with this one.Thanks for looking.

I searched the web like crazy for months and then i found this tutorial that is just fantastic. Here is the link

she does a great job of teaching this. It took a little practice to get the tension just right, but its so simple to do and it doesnt hurt my hands. I think it looks a lot like crochet too.
