6 Point Star Afghan

I just wrote up my first pattern! I tried a bunch of other "Star-ghan" and round ripple patterns and none of them were working out with the bulky yarn I had so I made my own pattern

How did you get yours to lie flat? I'm about 13 rows in and mine is beginning to ripple and ruffle. Will it lie flat after it's completed, washed and blocked?
