I made Fleece yarn

I actually did it-I cut fleece strips thin enough to use a K hook with. They are about 3/8 in. wide. I have made rugs with wider strips, but they are so hard on my wrist to crochet with. I did learn that you have to cut them only in the direction that does not stretch a lot. I love the way they look.

So much material is wasted at selvedges and between panels. My frugal nature has tried many ways to use them.

This is after I have added some more. I sew the strips together by hand.

Very pretty! How do you cut it? Do you cut it to about 3/8" from the edge and then start the next row from the other side? This way you would get a long piece but it would have some odd corners I would think. I'm just curious as to how you cut it.

I've been raiding the remnants at WalMart for different colors of fleece to crochet rugs too. Fleece is soft, washable & pretty durable. Lots of colors too. Thought I'd just cut it in strips, join them together & keep crocheting. Good piece of advice to know about how to cut the fleece so it's not too stretchy. Thanks for sharing!
