40,000 Scarves and counting for the Special Olympics

Not sure where to put this, so I took a chance on this board. I just received an e mail from Coats & Clark with the latest newsletter and they said that the Special Olympics received over 40,000 scarves and they are still counting. On one day, the post office delivered three truckloads to them.

 

I think it is wonderful that so many people took the time to make scarves. I sent in two crocheted ones as soon as I heard about it and still have yarn (bought more than I needed, was hard to find the Delft Blue) for more for next year.

 

Thanks to all who crocheted (and or knitted) scarves!!!

Anyone hear what they did with the extra scarves? Charlene

They sold the extra scarves for donations so that everyone in that area could support the games.

It sounds wonderful. Hope they made lots of money on the extras. I participated and I think it is a wonderful project. Looking forward to the next one. Please keep us posted.

Had a friends who was in the area during the Special Olympics, she said it was blue and white everywhere. Very moving.
