Question

I'm working now on the edging, on rnd 1 I have the 20 shells. on rn 2 I should end with 40 shells but I'm only getting 20 shells on this roll. Some how I'm missing getting the other 20 shells in there. Can someone tell me what I'm missing? Thanks for the help.

A shell is defined as 2dc, ch-1, 2dc.

See in round 2 where it says "*(Shell, ch 1, Shell) in next ch-1 sp"

The ch-1 sp is the ch-1 in the shell in round 1. So, you are making 2 shells into the top of 1 shell. In other words, you will be making 2dc, ch-1, 2dc, ch-1, 2dc, ch-1, 2dc all in that one little ch-1 space. The red is the first shell, the blue is the second shell.

Don't feel bad, I made some of these ponchos for Christmas presents when they first came out, and I remember having a huh? moment with the edging too. This is one of those patterns where a chart would have helped.
