Susan's Hat and Mittens

My best friend's daughter recently graduated (from nursing school) and I wanted to send her a gift, since I had no $$ "crochet to the rescue"! I made her a pair of mittens (my first one!) from this pattern, which Teresa graciously listed in our free pattern section. I modified the ribbing though, so I wouldn't have to sew a separate piece on (call me lazy!), and made it with Fpdc and Bpdc. Ah, I used RHSS in "Aran.

 

The hat is my own design (you can find pattern here); I used RHSS "Aran Fleck" and "Aran".
