Alpine Cables Hat for my SIL

I recently got the book Special Techniques and Stitches in Crochet as a gift. My SIL saw the pattern for this hat in it and requested one. How could I refuse? It was a lot of fun to make, since I adore crochet cables, as well as just about any pattern by Lisa Naskrent (of the Crochet Garden). This was made with Wool Ease yarn.

I used to do a lot of cables, too, but haven't done any in a long time. Don't rememeber now why I stopped. Guess I need to start again, seems they are getting very popular, and I love them. This is very nice, love it.
