Tassels

Piper0110

Question

I am just putting the last edging on a blanket for my sister. I purposely did it in acrylic for ease of care. The pattern calls for 8 inch fringe/tassels all around. It's just the style of tassel that sort of loops around, no tying or securing... if that makes sense. Anyway, I'm wondering if this has any effect on the washability. Will the tassels unravel or fall apart when I wash it?

Is this the kind that you bring through the space and then insert through a loop made from the same pieces? (wow, I hope you understand that! :)) ) I made a poncho applying the fringe in that manner and just took it out of the dryer, perfectly intact. I was a little afraid of them coming out but they didn't.

I've never had any problems washing items with fringe or tassels. I even have a shawl I made about 5 years ago out of LB homespun with 8 inch long fringe tied just as you described and I wash it often and it still looks great. Go for it.
