Good price to pay for roving?

I am going to be learning to spin and was just searching around for roving. I was just wondering what would be a good price to pay for it? Like wool or any really. I was just searching ebay and found a seller that has some really pretty colors, but I am just not sure what would be to high of a price to pay, or if its a decent or average price. what would your suggestions be? any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

I would suggest Etsy would be a better choice. There is a wide range of prices and types of roving available, and often the shipping is much less.

 

You can expect to pay around 15-20 for 4 oz.

You'll find out that price will depend on what type of fiber it is, if it is a natural color or handpainted, if it is raw/processed.

 

For the least expensive roving for getting started, I always recommend Carol Lee at The Sheep Shed Studio

Depending on what you are looking for you can spend as little or less as 15$/pound.

 

My LYS(which also does mail order) has fiber and I can get Corriedale by the pound for $12.50. Then later dye it or dye it before I spin it. The also have Merino that's very nice for $18/pound. If you go here you can see what they have and more prices.

 

They also have a discount deal. After you spend $100 you get %10 off your order, the %15 off $150 and %20 off $200. Let's say you bought a book from them that would go toward a fiber discount as well.
