Confounded!

Recommended Posts

Help please! Have been working on Rose in Pineapple Doily

and after a whole lot of frogging, :blush

finally have all the center motifs done and attached. :clap

So far so good...then on the Rnd 2 after beginning

the doily itself, the directions have left me confounded! :think

Has anyone completed this pattern? I cannot seem to get

what the directions want...if it is as written, could it really

mean a chain of 26 between dtc? or a ch 13, dtc twice, in each

loop of the 'y' stitch? or only one dtc, ch 13 in each loop?

or...I need help! :eek How does anyone else read this pattern?

Thanks for any ideas or helps on how to continue with this. :)

You simply do what is between the first set of parenthesis 3 times. Then you are at the Y place. Then you do the next set of parenthesis 2 times. Complete the next stitches and repeat as it said.

It's not 26 ch because you have that sc in next ch lp separating the ch 13.

Thanks Rabbit, whew, finally got through that round! :yay

ended up being just one dtc in each of the "arms"

of the Y stitch seperated by ch 13 each. I did

try it with 2 in each of the arms, only to discovered

I would end up with 18 pineapples instead of 14. :eek

I would have been fine with 18 pineapples, :lol

of course that would mean making 18 rose motifs :think

The pattern is rather open, but would 18 pineapples

end up laying flat??? So...you guessed it already!

more frogging! Ugh! Now I see the directions on Rnd 6

may be incomplete...they end with : and certainly do not

work out when looking at Rnd 7. :angry

Drats! wish I did not like the look of this doily so much.:(

I am always up for a challange, but really, this may be

too much of one for me. :blush

The directions are surely not very

complete :angry and can be very confusing st times, :think

but I think I have figured it out! :clap

(for the next round at least! :blush )

I often find myself scratching my head at directions. Sometimes it helps to slow down and read them aloud. Charts are nice because you've got that visual in front of you. Good luck, Sandy Jo.

Thank-you for the hint Carla, I will give that a try. :)

Now without having to do so much figuring and frogging

the work is going along much faster.:crocheting So I decided to

roll another hank of size 20 thread, only to I discovered I

have been using size 30 all along! :eek with a size 10 hook :hook

Mercy! but it is way to late to change now, so this particular

doily may turn out only a little larger in the end. :lol

Oh I am getting along with this pattern, only to

discover several 'goofs' I made in counting...:blush

Now I have to decide whether to just fudge them

and continue and live with them, :(

which I am leaning heavily towards :devil, since to

fix them properly would mean taking the whole of it

back eight rounds!!! Eight Rounds! :eek

Thanks Bunny, I needed that! :)

I could have all but cried when realized my mistakes, but have disguised them fairly well enough inside the pineapples, :hook even so, I may always refer to this one as the 'Fudge Doily' :D
