Lapghan Size?

What size do you think a lapghan should be for a wheelchair bound adult. I realize that it depends on the person however what is a average size? I am thinking I will do a few for some Veterans for Christmas.

I consider my size for a lapghan as 36 by 40 especially when I crochet or thereabouts all depending on how my yarn is turning out but I do want a width of at least 36 inches.

Soldier's Angels Crochet team uses 36x48 as a basic lapghan size. If you need addresses for VA's to send them to the Soldier's Angels group can help with that.
