People from the UK - which yarn?

Hi there - I'm not sure which shops you have up your way. I get my yarn from local shops on my two closest towns. There is usually a good selection at Hobbycraft if you have one of those near you - they also do a good selection of hooks too but they only seem to carry the Pony brand.

If you are an e-bayer there are LOADS of hooks and yarns / threads on there of all different varieties - if they are no good look on the ebay.com from the USA or their other stores - it doesn't cost as much as you may think to get them shipped over here and they are usually here within a week.

The best way to do it is to go to the USA with an empty suitcase and visit a 'Michaels' store - they are a crafters heaven!! It took me and a friend two days to get around the whole store and the prices are soooooo low compared to here - most were the same price in dollars as we pay in pounds so all about half the price!!

Happy hunting!!

I buy regularly from the following online shops:

This company always has lots in their clearance section but postage is a little high and it can take a few days to get to you. I normally order from them once or twice a year and make it worth my while since the postage is high.

I've order from here once and it took awhile but was told in the beginning since it had to be ordered from their supplier. I wanted aran weight yarn and they don't keep ALL of it in stock at all times. Good prices.

I've ordered from here a couple times. Really nice, fast shipping and decent prices. Free postage on orders over £10.

She is the ONLY UK supplier to stock Lion Brand yarns from the US. Super nice, quick shipping and prices are good. She also stocks a US crochet magazine every month.

I've ordered from her a couple times. Quick deivery, postage is reasonable and she stocks a few things that no one else does.

I normally buy cheap DK yarn from our St Clare's charity shop. It's new and really soft and only £1.

I hope this helps.

Hi klaire12, are you in Notts or Doncaster? I'm a Notts gal : )

Boyes aren't bad for basics, their own brand yarns are a reasonable price & wash well too.

John Lewis has higher range stuff like Debbie Bliss.

Charity shops are always worth checking out too.

i also ask in the charity shops if they have had any nice wool in and sometimes its surprizing what you can get,
