I too would be interested in knowing how this is related to an English course.

This is related to English because we read The Odd Sea by Frederick Reiken. Some of the main characters are artists and are very interested in van Gogh. Somehow in class we got started talking about art projects and the teacher let us choose whether to do an art project or a paper.
