I am just wondering if you mean (at the beginning of a row) ch 3, 2dc in same stitch so that it would match the other end where you do 3dc in the last dc?

 

The ends just don't match well when I put the 2dc in the next stitch.

made it yesterday after comming across this post....

worked up really fast and loved the end result..which will be mailed off to my niece for her b-day! (doing a crochet theme pressies, halter top, v-stich beanie, water bottle carrier, shall, WHK that is all packed into a crocheted messenger type bag that i also made.)

It says in the pattern to use a different size hook for the flowers, but I'm not sure where or how the flowers come in...

 

I'm sure I'm being very stupid, but I would love some help with this!
