Vintage Knit Cro Sheen

Hi,

 

My mom sent me some vintage crochet thread. I am wondering how to figure out the weight. I have some really cool lime variegated thread but the label does not say anything about the weight. It is Knit-Cro-Sheen and just says 175 yards and boilfast and that its mercerized. I am new to crocheting so really don't have a clue here. Any help would be appreciated!

I believe all Knit-Cro-Sheen is all size 10, no matter how old... I have some old stuff from the 60's (or maybe 70's) and it's size 10... please correct me if I'm wrong, someone!!

Yes it is size 10.

I'm glad to know that. My crochet and knitting career has been spotty through the years and you gals know so much more about yarns and threads than I do.

Not to be contrary, but I have some old Knit Cro Sheen, and it is a bit bigger than size 10. Maybe it is just the batches that I have, but it works up a little differently than size 10 for me. Not a lot bigger, just a bit.
