Looking for an Idea and a Pattern!

ThoseDarnPickles

Question

Hey everyone,

2 friends of mine are throwing me a baby shower in the next week or two. I thought it would be a great idea to include a small gift with a thank you card to show them how much I appreciate them organizing the party. So, I am looking for an idea of what to include and a pattern to go with it! They are both fun girls and loved the scarves I've made them in the past, I've also done a couple of crocheted voodoo dolls and an amigurumi octopus for them. They are open to anything!

Any ideas you creative people have would be SOOO helpful as I am kind of in a time crunch (the shower is the 15th and I want to have the gift to them shortly after)

Thanks in advance for everyone's help! Thats why I love this place!

how about a small/medium sized purse? there are some cute and clever free designs all over the internet - you could even try some felting... line it with a pretty complementary fabric and put some purchased handles on for a very chic professional finish.

and/or... an i-pod cozy or cell phone cozy would be nice, either to match the purse or in lieu of the purse (not sure how fast you hook and how much time you have!)

How about a lovely bookmark?

I also like the idea of a little basket/box, or a sachet... crochetpatterncentral.com has tons of ideas in those categories.

Or crochet some roses? http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=72399&highlight=long+stem+roses

tuck them into a vase with those little flat glass "rocks"...or in a little cardboard box (the long narrow kind)

how about pot scrubbers, dishcloths, towel toppers, potholders? The bookmark idea is good - maybe something with hearts to denote the love and kindness they showed in hosting your baby shower....maybe a filet pattern with their name and a heart border - for a book mark or wall hanging?

Let us know what you decide!!

For a very quick gift I like to make Granny Square bookmarks. I just use any pattern for a Granny Square, usually 5 rows, and follow the same pattern for assembly. I use nice thread and the appropriate size steel hook and include a coordinating tassle on a long chain. I especially like to make them in pastel colors for a delicate look.

I saw somewhere that someone had made some lovely washcloths out of cotton yarn and then put them in a basket with some really nice bath gels, scented candles, body lotions and all that sort of thing. I would LOVE to get a present like that. I know that I could EASILY make it for myself, but it isn't the same thing as if someone else put it all together for you.

Thanks for the ideas everyone! I have decided to go with an infamous FBB for each of them! I have one completed already (well almost, just need the handles and a fun pin) but I was wondering if anyone had a variation of the original SnB pattern that created a smaller FBB? Thanks again! :hug
