Question about an afghan

memflag

Question

I am working on this afghan here -

www.4crocheters.com/links/Cassieghan.htm

and I am trying to assemble the squares. I am following the instructions for putting the first five together, but they aren't lining up.

Will they line up after all 20 squares are sewn together or am I just doing it completely wrong? I am a newbie and this is my first afghan so please be gentle with me. :blush

I have frogged the attaching stitches and the edging three times. *sigh* I'm about ready to give up! :th

Somebody please help me!!!!!

Well some people would block them to make them all the same size.

I'm lazy and take the easy way out.

I force my blocks and strips to line up by stitching two to one if I have to. Meaning I ease them together, spacing evenly the stitches. Most of the time it doesn't pucker and the rare occiasion it does, it doesn't matter because I know the blanket won't be laying flat very often.

Good luck on it.

hi, i think that what is messing you up is that there are loops around the squares. maybe instead of doing the loops do sc around instead and then it would match up better. or match the loops together and don't worry about the difference as like empress bee said, afghans are very rarely flat. good luck:lol vicki

Right now it still hasn't been sewn together. I got so frustrated with it that I had to set it aside before I did something I didn't really want to do!:whew

These suggestions sound good and I will give them a shot and let ya'll know how it goes. I work on my crochet on Mon's, Wed's and Fri's and do Cross stitch on the other days, so I will get to work on it tomorrow. If everything goes well, I will post a pic and let ya'll see!!
